Dear CPM Volunteer,

Recently, we all have seen in the news stories about virus outbreaks occurring on cruise ships. When health concerns occur on ships coming to Port Canaveral we take notice and we want you to know that we have protocols in place. The protocols are designed to balance the safety of our volunteers and visiting crew as well as maintaining our mission of meeting the emotional, physical, and spiritual needs of crew so they may know God’s love.

With that in mind, please know that when an outbreak occurs each cruise line implements strict containment and cleaning policies to prevent the spread of any contagion that includes regular cleaning of high contact surfaces and in worst case scenarios crew serving guests at the buffet tables. The success of their business drives these companies to do everything possible to prevent the spread of disease. Crew are also required to isolate if they show symptoms. So, before any crewmember comes ashore, health concerns are addressed onboard.

Additionally, the following protocols will be implemented at Canaveral Port Ministry when an outbreak is active on a Port Canaveral ship:

• Serving the crew members at the buffet table.

• Changing out serving implements on a regular basis with clean ones.

• Deep cleaning of the ministry center as needed – especially high contact areas.

When you are scheduled to serve and these protocols are in place, please feel free to contact Marci should you have any questions or concerns. Additionally, if you are not comfortable coming to serve on your assigned day due to health concerns – that’s OK. Simply call or email Marci to let her know as soon as possible so she can fill your position.
